While choosing a good round cake pan look for a pan that comes with high straight sides and a flat bottom. This will help create the cake which you can trim and make levels and layers for a nice looking layered cake. Since the pans come in many sizes they are mainly used for baking wedding cakes. The most commonly used round pans come in the size 6 x 2 inches which is capable of holding 4 cups of batter, 8 x 1-1/2 inch which is capable of holding 4 cups of batter and 8 x 2 inches which can hold in 6 cups of batter. If you wish to know the pan measurement always measure from one end of the inside edge to another end of the inside edge. This will exclude the thickness measurement of the pan giving you the exact dimensions of the pan. You can use a ruler to measure straight towards up without slanting the ruler. While choosing a round cake pan look for heavy gauge aluminized steel which is durable and lasts for a lifetime. They are quick and easy to clean. All you need to is use some soap and warm water to scrub the pan with a gentle brush or sponge. Many brands promote pans which can also be dishwasher friendly. You should check if the pan has a patented silicon coating or not which means if the pan is PTFE, PFOA, BPA-free, or not? If it is then it will ensure you a quick and easy release with minimal clean-up time.
